About Crest Labs
Crest Labs is building software to modernize how commercial real estate inspections,
loan servicing, and portfolio reviews are done.
Inspection teams and asset managers still rely heavily on manual workflows,
spreadsheets, and outdated tools to assess properties, write reports, and evaluate risk.
We work directly with inspection firms, loan servicing teams, and large institutional
owners to replace these workflows with a faster, more scalable system.
We are already live with customers and running pilots with large national firms.

The Role – Founding Engineer
As our first engineering hire, you will have significant autonomy to shape the product,
architecture, and technical direction of the company. You’ll work directly with the founder
and customers to design, build, and ship core features that power real inspection teams
and enterprise workflows.
You will own the full development lifecycle from ideation and product design to
implementation, deployment, and iteration, and play a key role in defining how the
engineering function operates as the company grows. Of course, you’ll have a lot of
help too, but this won’t be a role where you are micro-managed.
You’ll help decide what gets built, how it gets built, and why it matters.
As the company grows, there is also an opportunity to expand your scope beyond
engineering. If you’re interested, you can be involved in enterprise sales calls, own
customer relationships, and help shape the product roadmap based on direct feedback
from inspection firms and large institutional teams.
We’re looking for someone who wants to build, lead, and have real influence over the
direction of both the product and the company.

What You’ll Work On
You’ll primarily be working in Next.js and TypeScript, with some Python for backend
services and data workflows. Bonus points if you have experience with AWS, SST, and
Prisma, but these are not required.
The scope of work spans both cutting-edge and deeply practical problems, including:

● Building and scaling core product features used daily by inspection teams and
enterprise users
● Developing an active-learning LLM framework that improves over time using
real-world enterprise data
● Modernizing and productionizing industry-standard Excel workflows, including
complex macro-heavy forms, and deploying the infrastructure needed to support
them at scale
If some of this is new to you, that’s okay. You’ll be working directly with the founding
team, and we value curiosity, ownership, and the ability to learn quickly over checking
every box.
